The air suspension system has seven new project points

As of November, the company has added 7 official fixed projects for air suspension systems, including the R&D and manufacturing of front air spring assembly, rear air spring assembly, and integrated air supply unit (air pump, valve body, ECU integration), which is expected to be delivered in batches in Q3 2023.

It is understood that the air suspension system of Tuopu Group has the ability of complete system development, parts and assembly manufacturing.

In terms of air springs, Tuopu Group has multi-chamber (multi-cavity) technology, the application of multi-chamber air springs, through the action of switching solenoid valves, open and close part of the air chambers, can provide a variety of suspension rigidity, cope with a variety of working conditions, provide superior comfort at the same time, can provide better vehicle handling stability, so that the vehicle turning, parallel roll angle is smaller and higher.

Generally speaking, the more air spring gas chambers, the better the elasticity and comprehensive performance, the more complex the structure, and the higher the cost. At present, air springs mainly include single cavity, double cavity and three chambers according to the number of air chambers, of which single-cavity air springs are currently the more widely used type of domestic passenger cars.

In terms of air supply unit, based on the technical experience of intelligent brake and electronic vacuum pump, Tuopu Group has realized integrated air supply unit (pump, distribution valve, ECU), which is conducive to improving space layout, energy consumption reduction, cost reduction, response time and other aspects.

In terms of manufacturing, Tuopu Group's air suspension system plant was completed in November last year. It is reported that the new factory is located in Ningbo Binhai New Area, with a total area of 60,000 square meters, a construction area of 80,000 square meters, and a total investment of about 600 million yuan, which is planned to be officially put into operation in June 2022, mainly for the production and manufacturing of air suspension. After the new plant is put into operation, it will have an annual production capacity of 2 million air suspensions, which can be used for 500,000 vehicles per year.

In recent years, driven by consumption upgrades and localized cost reduction, air suspension is falling from luxury cars of more than 600,000 yuan to the optional and even standard models of new forces in the range of 300,000 yuan. For example, since 2018, the launch of NIO's ES8 and ES6 has reduced the air suspension configuration to less than 400,000 yuan. In 2021, the Extreme Krypton 001 and Dongfeng Lantu FREE will continue to test the air suspension to models within 300,000 yuan.

Relevant statistics show that in June 2022, the air suspension penetration rate of new energy vehicles was 2.08%, and the air suspension penetration rate of domestic fuel vehicles was 0.12%. In this regard, some analysts pointed out that with the intensification of competition in the new energy vehicle market, car companies will increasingly use air suspension to create a differentiated leapfrog experience in order to improve the competitiveness of their products, and the penetration rate of air suspension is expected to further increase.
